I started out in the Digital Intermediate business in 1998 when VCC (my former employer) installed the Data Option into the Spirit Datacine. I took care of implementing a workflow that would allow to keep the
image quality during all stages of work. We used an Inferno suite for
effects work and worked closely together with Optical Art on the film recording side.After installing one of the first Specter 2K
machines in 2000 we set to grade our first features on that machine.
Image Quality was really an issue because you couldn't work in
log-colourspace at that time. So you might find artifacts in these
films, but nonetheless it worked ok. For various reasons we replaced it
in 2003 with the first Baselight system and had a good relationship with the guys at Filmlight. In 2004 I switched sides and got employed by Optical Art, which happend to be bought by VCC at the same time.
